Ten minutes before the starting time, I stepped into a transformed room with fresh French wall paper and new unique products slung over the racks and French provincial book shelves. Greeted with French champagne and a warm welcoming, I looked around to see that beautiful linens, silks and superb cottons dressed the room today at Blake & Taylor in Brisbane’s retro suburb, Paddington. Classic whites and vivid yellows, pinks and blues stood out as customers bustled around a store that was lucky enough to have Designer Kerrie Molloy from ‘Her Shed Textiles for Living.’ Molly spoke to a small group of ladies about her sheets, bed covers and throws. The crowd was in awe of her divine fabrics and loved seeing how to use them to dress a contemporary bed.
While contemplating the best products to take home, guests were swept up to Blake & Taylor’s tea room for a French inspired morning tea. Homemade cookies with white icing and black Eiffel Tower prints were set amongst mini berry crumbles, melting moments and lemon meringue tarts. Trays of raspberry mint iced tea and glasses of champagne were served to enjoy with the delicate desserts.
I think that Blake & Taylor are onto something here. I could definitely get used to this way of shopping, being pampered with tea and cookies, and of course some new knowledge. In fact, I won’t feel like shopping the normal way for a while! But if they throw another product launch like this one i’ll be there with an open purse!
