It was Friday night and I was reuniting with an old university friend for dinner and drinks.
She’s been out of the country for a while so I thought it would be a great opportunity to show her one of my favourite new local spots and one of Brisbane’s most interesting new venues, Chilli Wow. Taking over residence from Barsoma, Chilliw Wow is a Mexican bar featuring specialised food and cocktails. It is a colourful and fun experience for anyone looking to step out of the normal nightlife’s bar and band scene.
Head there in the earlier hours for relaxed lunch or dinner of fresh made tacos, quesadillas, nachos, and more or spend the night sampling the impressive range of specialty cocktails. As vegetarians we were worried our options would be limited to beans and rice but were delighted to see an extensive range of options and a veggie version of almost every item on the menu.
With tacos, quesadillas, and a jug of sangria to share, we grabbed a spot in the courtyard, a refreshingly relaxed environment for a venue in the heart of the Valley. After dinner we followed up with the Mexican Mojito Punchbowl for two, which is particularly divine. Watching it being made is a flawless demonstration by the incredibly skilled bartenders.
By the end of the night my old friend had fallen in love with the venue just as much as I did, so much so we went back on Saturday for more. This was by no means my first trip to Chilli Wow. Having been there for a 21st birthday function, Sunday sessions and many casual cocktails it’s become one of my favourite hidden treasures of the Valley.
So if you are looking for something a little different on your next night out, drop by to check out the new summer menu and have a fiesta of your own.
Sharing the love,
