Wuthering Heights at QPAC

Wuthering Heights by Shake & Stir Theatre Co threw a storm over Brisbane on opening night at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre.

The intense and thrilling performance, written by Emily Bronte, was a gothic work of art, leaving the audience to hang off every word and every powerful expression.

The dramatic adaption drew on the tale of a boy, Heathcliff, rescued from the streets who caused chaos in one family’s eventful lives.

With a strong and passionate bond with Cathy Earnshaw, Heathcliff claimed a treacherous obsession with his teenage sweetheart that spiraled out of control until in the estate of Wuthering Heights.

The talent of the sound, lighting, set and projection designers shone through as the stage drifted in and out of a dark and hazardous haze.

The retold classic was performed by stage and screen star Gerry Connolly and a talented cast including Ross Balbuziente, Julian Curtis, Nelle Lee, Anthony Standish and Melanie Zanetti.
