Tucked away on a side street in Paddington is Shouk Café, a modern Middle Eastern eatery serving up stunning meals inspired by the traditional markets of Turkey, Israel, Egypt and more.
Inside the trendy wooden Paddington house, visitors are invited to dine in one of two dining rooms.
While the front room quickly fills up with friends, couples and families, it is the back room that holds true charm with a quaint reading area and a view overlooking the gullies and homes of the charismatic suburb.
The dinner is the main attraction of Shouk Café as the chefs have poured passion and love into every dish with the utmost attention to detail.
Under mains, the floral confit chicken illustrates the talent of Shouk Café as the creativity can be seen in both the presentation with delicate plating and finely pressed garden flowers and in the complexity of flavours.
The Hommus Kawarma was hearty and delicious with spiced lamb on a bed of cannellini beans and chickpeas and was served with a generous portion of thick and doughy Lebanese pizza bread.
Despite being marked as a starter the portion size would easily make for a great main or could be combined to create sharing dishes between a larger group.
One cannot leave without experiencing the Chocolate for dessert as the dish is served with an impressive strawberry mist and the flavours and hidden surprises illustrate the love that goes into the food at Shouk Cafe.
While the food is complex, the main menu itself is simple and easy to read with clearly labelled mains such as Chicken, Duck and Lamb with one way of cooking each meat and desserts such as Chocolate and Meringue.
