Southbank’s Stanley Street was alit with glowing lights and decorations as the Christmas markets showcased an array of creative gifts for Brisbane’s merriest.
The festivity included a concert band that began playing Christmas tunes at dawn and continued until the sun was down and the crowds grew even larger.
While lanterns lit the way along the plaza, crowds hustled in the precinct to shop among the markets for local gifts for friends and family.
A churros stall was set beside the Max Brenner restaurant as groups gathered under the pine arch welcoming visitors to the Stanley Street Markets.
The market stalls boasted gorgeous local products that varied from traditional hand-made clothing and jewellery, to pop-up Christmas cards and perfumed soaps available in every possible scent.
Iced tea was a highlight at the markets, available in festive flavours including ‘Rudolph Raspberry’ and ‘Candy Cane.’ The tea was a perfect compliment to the Christmas festivity.
The festivity at Southbank continues this weekend where fireworks will ignite the sky over Brisbane River. The Wheel of Brisbane will also be offering a special Christmas gift where children aged 12 and under may ride for free when accompanied by an adult.
