Directed by acclaimed Antoine Fuqua, Southpaw is an action drama film about a pro-boxer Billy ‘The Great’ Hope whose life is turned upside down at the highpoint of his career.

The role of Hope was originally created for Eminem until he swapped his role in Southpaw for The Marshall Mathers LP 2 2013.


Leading actor Jake Gyllenhaal took on the starring role of a father who grew up in the system (foster care) and went from nothing to a famous millionaire with the help of his wife, performed by Rachel McAdams.

However the reigning junior middleweight boxing champion lost custody of his daughter and jeopardized his boxing career after a horrific event for the family.

The movie shows how Hope was forced to get his life back on track and get back in the ring for the sake of his family.

Southpaw is a story of struggle, redemption and reveals a life session about family.
