Macbeth (2015)

The latest film adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth hits cinemas this October, and is set to draw crowds after receiving rave reviews in Cannes.

Director Justin Kurzel follows the witches’ advice to Macbeth by creating a film that is ‘bloody, bold and resolute.’

Gritty photography showcases the sparse, unforgiving Scottish landscape, which gradually becomes saturated in blood-red.

Leading actor Michael Fassbender delivers the performance of a lifetime as the film’s titular character. He depicts a brooding, emotional, and megalomaniacal Macbeth.

However the brooding man who receives a prophecy from a trio of witches that one day he will become King of Scotland slowly descends into madness throughout the drama film.

Marion Cotillard gives a standout performance as she mesmerises the audience in her role as a conflicted Lady Macbeth.

Macbeth is a powerful piece of cinema, intense and thrilling to the very end.
