Directed by Sarah Gavron, Suffragette is a compelling film about the foot soldiers of the early feminist movement.

The film focuses Suffragettes – members of women’s organisations in the late 19th and early 20th century who advocated the right to vote in public elections.

It highlighted women who were forced to pursue a dangerous game of cat and mouse with an increasingly brutal State.

The brilliant cast of Suffragette (Carey Mulligan, Helena Bonham Carter, Brendan Gleeson, Anne-Marie Duff, Ben Whishaw, and Meryl Streep) explore the incredible challenges before women’s rights were recognised in Britian in 1928.

As the first film in history to be shot in the Houses of Parliament, Suffragette has been nominated for The British Independent Film Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a British Independent Film.
