After a successful revival in London’s West End, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s renowned musical CATS has come to Brisbane, and Resident Director Stephen Morgante couldn’t be happier.
The hit performance features 26 fully costumed performers, four Swings singing supporting vocals from a booth and an eight piece band.
“Everyone loves the show here [in Brisbane],” Morgante says, “It’s always been received so well in Brisbane. The culture here, the dance and music and theatre is so strong, and it’s such a pleasure to perform here.”
The creative team for CATS have rearranged some numbers for the tour.
Morgante says this is nothing the general public will notice, but for those who have seen the musical before, the differences will be clear.
In an interview with Morgante, the talented Resident Director raved about how lucky he has been to work with such an amazing and talented cast.
The incredibly talented cast have delivered considerable dancing as well as singing and acting.
Talent to note includes Queensland’s Madeline Cain, supporting vocalist and Swing for Delta and Brent Osborne who will be playing the mischievous Mungojerrie.
“It will be a great show, there’s something in it for everyone,” Osborne said when asked about opening night. “Some people get a deeper understanding of it, whereas others might enjoy a different meaning of it. Kids will get something out of it and adults will get something else out of it. It’s a family show that everyone can get something out of.”
Osborne says that Delta has been amazing to work with and very down to earth so far.
“She embraced the entire cast, and we embraced her as well. She’s just amazing to hang around with, and such a lovely girl.”
CATS is an incredible, delightful and entertaining musical with a wildly fun cast and exhilarating direction.
