Sound of Music

The Queensland Performig Arts Centre is alive with the sound of music as one of the world’s favourite musicals has returned to Australia – The Sound of Music.

The critically acclaimed London Palladium production delivered a touching tale of the von Trapp family, evoking nastalgia amongst fans of the 1965 film.

The Sound of Music presented a show stopping choir. Graceful nuns residing in Salzburg, birthplace of 18th century composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, warmed the hearts of all.

Under vows of poverty, chastity and obedience, leading character Maria (performed by award-winning musical theatre star Amy Lehpamer) is sent to the lavish and opulent villa of a retired naval officer and widower.

As governess to his seven children, Maria brings happiness, laughter and most importantly music to the strict home.

The creative team behind this spectacular musical drew the audience in with a breathtaking backdrop of the Austrian hills.

Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Sound of Music is an incredible performance that is guaranteed to bring back memories of the film on your first black and white television.
