Palace Centro are now showing Marguerite, a popular comedy recently screened at the Alliance Francaise French Film Festival.

Multi award winning Catherine Frot stars as Marguerite Dumont, a charming and wealthy woman who seems to have it all – beauty, money, a title and her own castle.

With a passion for music, Marguerite gladly opens her home to host a charity musical function and takes much delight in singing for a good cause.

Her unbridled joy for singing however is not matched with talent and she seems totally unaware when more than just a few ‘off’ notes occur in her repertoire.

Margurite’s singing brings much amusement to her audience and dire embarrassment of her husband (Andre Marcon).

However it is the role of the butler (Denis Mpunga) who brings alive a very human aspect.

His sensitive, caring watchful gaze gives the audience an insight into what it truly means to be caught up in our own human misfortunes and follies.

Marguerite is a charming and witty movie that has been inspired by the career of Florence Foster Jenkins.
