Cirque du Soleil returns with KOOZA

Cirque du Soleil returns to Brisbane with its latest show, KOOZA, bringing with it its reputation for mind-blowing acrobatics, captivating costumes, stirring music and elaborate set design all held under the iconic blue and yellow Grand Chapiteau.

The show “rekindles the memories and emotions associated with circuses of old, and brings together two century-old circus traditions” according to the programme.

Creator/director David Shiner has pulled together an impressive production, with Marie-Chantale Vaillancourt’s sumptuous and eclectic costumes defining the roles of the performers on stage, and composer Jean-Francois Cote’s music borrowing sounds from all around the world to create plenty of atmosphere.

It is a sparkling, colourful homage to the traditions of circus, combining thrilling acrobatic performance with the art of clowning.

The show delivers and then exceeds the standards it sets for itself with two hours of edge-of-the-seat entertainment that had the audience, on several occasions, audibly gasping.

Kooza will be making Christmas holidays very special at Skygate Brisbane Airport from 24 November – 8 January.

This show is a perfect Cirque du Soleil show if you’re ever going to see in Australia, and I’ve never experienced one better. Whether it’s your first time, or if you’ve seen multiple productions in the past, this is the Cirque that you can’t miss.
