Fifteen years after the original Resident Evil hit theatres, the sci-fi horror saga reaches its conclusion with Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.
Directed by Paul Anderson, who directed the original 2002 film, The Final Chapter stars Milla Jovavich as Alice, once again battling the diabolical machinations of the sinister Umbrella Corporation.
In the sixth and final instalment in the series, Alice finds herself in a desolate Washington DC with ruined and abandoned buildings riddled with gaping holes and unspeakable monsters on the loose.
In a strange twist of events, The Red Queen connects with Alice and offers to help her stop the T-Virus infection once and for all.
The Red Queen tells Alice to head to Raccoon City, where her horrific adventure began, and to hurry, for she only has 48 hours to recover an antidote that will stop the spread of the infection for good. Otherwise, the virus will result in the complete and total annihilation of the human race.
Upon her return to her old stomping ground, Alice meets up with an old ally, Claire (played by Ali Larter) and makes a few new friends along the way, including Abigail (played by Ruby Rose), Doc Macken (played by Eoin Macken) and Christian (played by William Levy).
In a high energy climax to the film Alice is pitted against her old enemies in Wesker (Shawn Roberts) and Dr. Isaacs (Iain Glen) to destroy the Umbrella Corporation facility and to release the airborne antidote that will save human kind.
Filming was at locations across the globe, including South Africa, Berlin and Washington DC, but also included our very own Magnetic Island, Brisbane and at the Warner studios on the Gold Coast.
While the main stars have all announced that this was the final instalment the closing scenes appear to have left the door open for a further film. Who knows?
