Breathtaking Swan Lake with Queensland Ballet

Lovers of ballet and the arts in Brisbane witnessed a breathtaking performance of Swan Lake by graceful and majestic dancers at Queensland Ballet.

The dancers graced the stage of the Queensland Performing Arts Centre grand Lyric Theatre while the audience sat in cocktail and formal attire and their best set of pearls.

Designed by Kristian Fredrikson, the opening stage showcased moody and romantic tones. A dramatically dark forestry and white smoke took the audience down by the lake and through the night landscape, followed by classic and royal tones of gold and red to represent the opulent palace.

The set allowed the talent of the dancers to shine while setting the scene for the spellbound Odette and her eternal love.

As swans by day, Odette and her friends enchant the audience with graceful, fluttering movements, performed after great dedication and training with Choreographer Ben Stevenson OBE after Petipa and Ivanov.

On Tuesday 9 May and Thursday 11 May delighted guests witness the grace of Internationally renowned Russian ballerina Evgenia Obraztsova as the beautiful Odette and the bewitching Odile.

Obraztsova gave a stunning performance with Queensland Ballet, moving with elegance, poise and facial expressions that truly draw the audience into her heart ache as she watches the prince, her true love, from the lake.

Conductor Nigel Gaynor and Queensland Symphony Orchestra added to the moody and captivating performance with glorious and romantic notes.

Queensland Ballet’s Swan Lake is a must see in Brisbane for lovers of Queensland’s art and dance culture, aspiring ballerinas and those looking for a romantic evening out.
