The Scandinavian Film Festival will be showcased from 20 July through to 06 August at Palace Barracks, offering a selection of 25 films from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland and Finland.
The Centrepiece film; A King’s Choice, is based on extraordinary true events, and one of the eight shortlisted films for the 2017 Best Foreign Language Academy Award.
One of Finland’s most acclaimed directors, Dome Karukoski won the FIPRESCI Prize at Göteborg for the superb biography of the man behind the iconic signature ‘Tom of Finland’, which became a notorious emblem of an entire generation of men, and a globally identified symbol of their freedom and sexual liberation.
Other highlights of the specially curated program of films and events include the tender coming-of-age Finnish drama Little Wing by Academy Award-nominated documentary filmmaker Selma Vilhunen.
Much more than just Noir, the Volvo Scandinavian Film Festival is a highly anticipated event on the festival calendar which allows audiences to delve into the iconic cinematic style of Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland and Finland.
