It sparkles, it dazzles, it’s the timeless musical gem – The Merry Widow.
The show that premiered in 1905 with recycled sets and costumes, and with little rehearsal time, is now adapted by creatives all over the world – including Queensland.
Franz Lehar ‘s The Merry Widow is performed by Brisbane’s local and beloved Opera Queensland.
Set in the city of love and heartbreak, Paris, the performance saw Hannah Glavari, a rich and beautiful young lady, spellbind every Parisian man with her recent widow state and the millions that came with it.
But threw the many parties with fun and flirty working girls, bottles of champagne and electrifying rendez vous’, the wealthy widow only had eyes for one man, a philanthropist and a former lover – Danilo Danilovich.
From the glamorous Gatsby set design to the costumes and the sparkling music, The Merry Widow will make you want to drink French champagne dripping head to toe in diamonds and silk at wild and rousing parties.
