Yesterday the country celebrated the public holiday for our nations much loved Australia Day.
Over the long weekend men and women were thinking back to the anniversary of the 1788 arrival of the First Fleet of British Ships at Sydney Cove in New South Wales; we celebrated the diversity of our society; and without a doubt the country lit the BBQ and enjoyed a beer or two in every home.
However one thing I did not entirely consider was the closure of many shops.
Strolling along the streets of Paddington, shop after shop was closed. I do not recall ever seeing the normally lively and bustling suburb so quiet.
This posed a slight problem for the long looked forward to ‘girls brunch.’
However there was one gem in the mix of empty cafes. Hana Rosa on Latrobe Terrace was welcoming every wandering body off the street and into their cafe for an all day hot breakfast.
Wanting to order everything on the menu, we settled for one eggs benedict with salmon, one hot breakfast special and a couple of drinks.
The tall orange juice and hot chocolate arrived before we had settled in to the long table in the back room. With service so fast, we knew our rumbling tummies would not have to wait much longer.
When our breakfast/brunch arrived we were both impressed by the decent size and value for money.
The food was hot and the complimentary breakfast side salad was a unique touch.
Still grateful that Hana Rosa was open, I might find myself back there for a coffee sometime.
Sharing the love,
