5 Ways to Keep Healthy and Have Fun at the BrisAsia Festival

Held between the 5th and the 28th of February, BrisAsia Festival is an exciting celebration of Asian art and culture. 

Aiming to strengthen bonds between Brisbane and Asia, the three week festival includes a range of thrilling events, including classes and sessions that will have you getting active, keeping healthy and loving every minute of it.
 

1. Yum Chat

Tea is famous for its many hidden health benefits. Join some of Australia’s most prominent creatives including Artistic Director of Queensland Ballet and Mao’s Last Dance author Li Cunxin for a cup of tea and take part in fascinating Asian tea traditions. 

Bookings are essential so be sure to secure your spot with the people at Metro Arts.

2. Art Bites: Bollywood Dance

Experience the excitement, colour and infectious beats of Bollywood Dance when you take part in Art Bites: Bollywood Dance. Held at Chermside’s 7th Brigade Park throughout the festival, this energetic class will teach you impressive routines, from Indian classical dance to popular ‘Bollywood’ style dance. To get involved in this taster session book your spot. 

3. Karate for All

Held in locations around Brisbane, Karate for All is just what the name suggests. 

Teaching self defense for men, women and children, this exciting class increases core strength, agility and mobility. With no booking required, Karate for All is a great spontaneous activity that’s fun and free for everyone. 

4. Tai Chi Qigong

Tai Chi is well known for its relaxing and invigorating abilities. Free for all ages, Tai Chi Qigong invites participants to take part in ‘moving meditation’ and connect with their mind, body and spirit in locations across Brisbane as part of the BrisAsia Festival.

5. Art Bites: Yoga Philosophy

Are you over the age of 14 and looking for a way to de-stress? In Art Bites: Yoga Philosophy Brisbane-based Yogacharya (master of yoga) Swami Muktibodhananda takes you through the history and philosophies of yoga plus a relaxing meditative session. 

Free for ages 14 and up, this interesting class will give you a few tips on how to effectively unwind with yoga.
