Don’t Breathe hits cinemas

Don’t Breathe is an apt title for Fede Alvarez’s gripping horror, as you won’t feel comfortable making a sound until this twisting, turning tale is through—and even then you’ll be left checking over your shoulder.

When a crew of small-time thieves learn that their next target is a blind war veteran living in an abandoned neighbourhood, they think they’ve hit the jackpot.

Instead, they find that far from being defenceless, their would-be victim is willing to do absolutely anything to protect himself, and his secrets.

What should have been an in-and-out job quickly becomes anything but, as they discover the house is more a prison than a home.

Stalled by barred windows, a guard dog, and more locks than they can cut, the crew never stop to consider that it might not only be to keep people out.

Once inside they soon learn why it was no simple feat to break in, and now, trapped in the very place they were so desperate to enter, they’ll have to fight for their lives if they want to escape.

Alvarez uses a small setting to deliver big scares and it doesn’t take long to feel the walls closing in around you.

As the crew struggle and suffer their way through the cramped house you quickly learn that, despite losing his sight, this war veteran is no less likely to hunt you down.

Don’t Breathe is a non-stop thriller that doesn’t relent until you’ve left the theatre, and there’s no doubt you’ll be left wanting more. But be careful what you wish for—you might just get it.
