Bullets, money and morals collide in War Dogs, the new release from comedy writer and director Todd Phillips, creator of The Hangover trilogy.
War Dogs is based on a true story, though many dramatic liberties have been given for the cinematic adaption.
The story follows high school friends David (Miles Teller) and Efraim (Jonah Hill), the former a down-on-his-luck home masseuse and the latter a flamboyant weapons dealer who brings his friend into the fold.
What follows involves marijuana, “small crumb” military contracts leading to “the whole pie” and the lengths twenty-something arms dealers will go to in order to win a contract and keep it at any cost.
If you’re looking for a movie like The Hangover, the closest you will get is an appearance by Bradley Cooper with too much hair grease.
However War Dogs is a comic distraction with nice scenery, strong characters and a plotline so outrageous it can only (partly) be true.
