The audience was given a glimpse of the season’s highlights at an event that was half showcase and half panel discussion.
Taking up a large part of the evening were several small discussions hosted by classical radio personality Guy Noble, who interviewed many of the 2016 season’s guest artists.
These included conductors Gordon Hamilton, Johannes Fritzsch and Natalya Rospopova and for something a little different, beatboxing champion Tom Thum who will also be performing with the orchestra.
A highlight was a video from Chinese concert pianist Lang Lang who will be performing with the QSO in June 2016.
Several of QSO’s musicians explained what they believe music is. Their responses included terms like “connection”, “lifestyle” and “product of human imagination”. Indeed, as Guy Noble himself explained, the musicians were actually the ones guiding audience members to their seats so they can develop a better connection with their fans.
Concert-goers will have a wide variety of interesting and engaging performances to look forward to in 2016.
