Exile: Songs and Tales of Australia set the hearts of every Irish descendant a blaze in a rousing, one time only concert event.
The audience was captivated with tales of Ireland’s tumultuous history from the days of the High Kings to modern day life in this sunburnt land.
All the while being enchanted with stunning on screen imagery, poetry, storytelling and toe tapping tunes.
One could not look past the spirited comradery on stage between the Irish and Australian artists.
Sharing laughter and knowing smiles all-round the group looked like old friends who had been touring together for years.
The star power of Declan O’Rourke and Shane Howard lit up the stage, however it was no secret that many came to see home grown legend Paul Kelly.
To the audiences delight a bare foot Paul Kelly performed his iconic tunes including ‘Our Sunshine’ which aptly describes the life and times of famed bush ranger Ned Kelly.
In the midst of the fun and laughter the hardships of the Irish were not forgotten.
As the performance was coming to a close a poignant reminder was issued to the crowd to cherish their culture in all walks of life.
There is little doubt that all who left this exclusive sold out performance will have new reason to celebrate on March 17, St Patrick’s Day.
