The new Australian production of Mamma Mia has hit Brisbane with a huge bang.
Australia’s own Michael Coppel, Louise Withers and Linda Bewick have produced an epic feel good performance following the classic tale about a stunning bride about to marry her sweetheart at 20 years old, an entertaining mother with three ex-lovers who are possible fathers of the bride-to-be, set in Greek Island paradise.
The musical features a super talented cast including Natalie O’Donnell (mother-of-the-bride Donna Sheridan), Sarah Morrison (Donna’s daughter and bride-to-be Sophie) and Alicia Gardiner and Jayde Westaby (Donna’s best friends Rosie and Tanya).
Mamma Mia showcases the hilarious trio of possible father’s that are an identical match to the father’s in this hit film – performed by Ian Stenlake, Phillip Lowe and Josef Ber – and Sophie’s charming fiancé Sky – played by Stephen Mahy.
The ultra romantic performance was teamed with Musical Supervisor Stephen Amos and timeless party songs, by Swedish pop group ABBA, which sent Brisbane wild with excitement.
The crowd roared with excitement as “Money Money Money” boomed over the Greek Island hotel setting and the Donna, Tanya, Rosie, Pepper and other guests, mates and hotel staff danced around the alfresco tables.
“Dancing Queen” drew in wild claps from the audience in Brisbane as Donna and the dynamos (Tanya and Rosie) came to the stage in sparkling blue leotards and belted out “having the time of your life, ooh.”
Other songs that got the crown moving in their seats include “Take a Chance On Me,” “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!,” and “Does Your Mother Know,” woven seamlessly into the most entertaining and surprising wedding of the year.
The new take on Mamma Mia sees even more energy, vibrancy and a party atmosphere 100% of the time.
